Spaced Out! Educator Workshop
A partnership with the Museum of Flight
DetailsHow did we think about spaceflight before humans walked on the moon? Join EMP|SFM and Museum of Flight educators in an interdisciplinary workshop combining visual art, science and social studies to look at space travel (real and imagined) before the first manned moon landing. The workshop highlights the special exhibition
Spaced Out! The Final Frontier in Album Covers at EMP|SFM, which looks at popular perceptions of space travel through the lens of the record album cover. Participants will learn about the social, technological, and cultural history of space travel between World War II and the 1969 Apollo landing, try hands-on activities with classroom rocketry and exhibition images, and participate in a special curatorial tour of the exhibition. Registered educators will receive copies of exhibition images for classroom use, audiovisual materials and handouts.
