American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music
This fully bilingual curriculum for elementary, middle school and high school focuses on how immigration and migration have shaped Latino and U.S. popular music, the ways Latinos have expressed their experiences as Americans, and how Latino youth have driven popular music innovations that cross diverse ethnic boundaries. This social studies curriculum may also useful to teachers of music, Spanish and ESL-ELL. For teachers in Washington state, the curriculum supports the following Washington State Classroom Based Assessments in the Social Studies:
Cultural Contributions, Enduring Cultures, and
Cultural Interactions.

EMP|SFM presents a free distance learning course for educators on Latino contributions to American popular music.
What do Woodstock, the mambo and the 1970s Los Angeles punk scene have in common? They are all found in the new distance learning course based on the exhibition
American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music. This course, which incorporates music, video and interactive elements, will help teachers learn about the ways Latino musicians have adopted and adapted musical styles, both Latino and mainstream. Clock hours are available to Washington State teachers.
