EDUCATION / SCHOOL GROUPS
Pre-Visit Information

Have your confirmation code, total number of visitors with your group and payment when you arrive at the Group Entrance.

Be prompt. Please allow time for parking, locating the group entrance and restroom stops. We have a limited amount of space for orientations and if your group is late you may be asked to wait.

Please observe museum policies. Food and drink are not allowed in the museum. This includes bottled water, candy and gum. Photography is prohibited in the exhibition galleries.

Please leave all backpacks, and other bags in your vehicles whenever possible. We have a limited amount of space available to check bags. If you are arriving by public transportation, we will assist your group with checking bags, coats and lunches.

Please plan to eat sack lunches at the Seattle Center House or weather permitting in the EMP|SFM Plaza. The Center House has a large food court with plenty of tables to accommodate large groups. If you would like to bring lunches we will check those for you upon arrival at the museum. At this time we do not have a space for groups to eat sack lunches inside. This includes Revolution Cafe at EMP|SFM. If you would like to make dining arrangements with Revolution Cafe at EMP|SFM, please call 206.770.2777.

Involved, active chaperones are crucial to the success of your visit! Students are required to stay with their chaperones and likewise, chaperones must keep track of their students. This is essential for the safety of your group and other visitors. The required chaperone to student ratio is 1:5 for students grades K-6, 1:7 for grade 7-8 and 1:10 for grades 9-12.

Respect other visitors. Please walk in exhibition areas and speak quietly. Respect the artifacts and instruments. Many of the objects at EMP|SFM are one-of-a-kind and cannot be replaced.

Your ticket will grant you access to all areas of the museum but there are opportunities involving additional costs. A poster of your On Stage experience may be purchased for $4.95 each plus tax by presenting your Education Group Ticket. This is a discount of $5.00. A CD recording of your performance in Sound Lab may be purchased for $9.95 plus tax.

Tie your visit to classroom learning. Visit the Curriculum page, call the education department at 206.770.2766 or send an e-mail to schoolvisit@empsfm.org for assistance with lesson plans and exercises to connect your visit to classroom learning.

Have fun and learn something new!

Please share these guidelines with your students and chaperones.

We look forward to your visit to EMP|SFM.
