American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music
ONLINE COURSE AVAILABLE NOWA new, free distance learning course for educators on Latino contributions to American popular music.
What do Woodstock, the mambo and the 1970s Los Angeles punk scene have in common? They are all found in the new distance learning course based on the exhibition American Sabor: Latinos in U.S. Popular Music. This course, which incorporates music, video and interactive elements, will help teachers learn about the ways Latino musicians have adopted and adapted musical styles, both Latino and mainstream. Teachers can choose among seven modules to design the instruction that best suits their interests. The course also includes classroom ideas and resources, particularly for teachers of music, Spanish and social studies. Up to 27 clock hours are available to Washington state teachers.
