Youth Advisory BoardMembership for EMP|SFM's Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is full for the 2009-2010 school year. Applications for the 2010-2011 year will be available summer of 2010. The YAB is composed of diverse and passionate individuals ages 13-18, with solid communication skills and a love for music. The Soundboard is devoted to the NW's all-ages music/arts scene. Connect with other creative types. Get insider tips on applying to Sound Off! And, win rad prizes, too.
Youth Advisory Board members have the opportunity to:
- Screen and discuss Sound Off! battle-of-the-band submissions.
- Assist at events like Bumbershoot, Sound Off! and more.
- Create a youth voice at EMP|SFM and assist in getting other teenagers involved.
- Help showcase EMP|SFM programs to the greater Seattle community.
- Get an inside peek at museum exhibits and special events.
- Write, participate and network in EMP|SFM's online community.
YAB contributes by:
- Attending meetings at EMP|SFM throughout the year.

- Offering their insight as creative teenagers to EMP|SFM event organizers, curators, marketers etc.
- Performing fun community outreach on behalf of EMP|SFM.
- Contributing to exciting EMP|SFM Public Programming, Education and Volunteer projects.
Youth Advisory Board membership requirements:
- Youth Advisory Board members must be between 13 and 18 years old, complete an application and provide a recommendation letter.
- Previous members will receive priority if numbers exceed capacity. Ideal group size, 15-20 individuals.
- Members will be expected to commit to serving on the board for 9 months.
- Members will agree to attend 9-10 annual monthly meetings during the year and occasional special committee or event related meetings.
- Members should have a basic knowledge of American music genres.
