Summary:
The Development intern is an integral part of the External Relations team at Experience Music Project | Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame (EMP|SFM). The Intern performs and coordinates a wide variety of administrative support functions of the Development Department.

Learning Opportunities:

Learn first-hand of the operations of a museum development department, including its internal and external communications, donor moves management, event planning and logistics, and information capture.

Develop research, outreach, database and writing skills through a variety of practical applications.

Learn to update and maintain documentation in Raiser’s Edge, SharePoint, and traditional filing systems.

Learn to contribute to event planning and logistics efforts.

Learn project management skills.
Suggested Activities:
-
Prepare special reports and summaries. Compile and produce departmental reports.

Research and report on prospective donors.
-
Data capture and management in development database, Raiser’s Edge.
-
Assist in donor stewardship, particularly sponsorship fulfillment, corporate member fulfillment, and basic funder reporting.

Maintain department master calendar.

Compose and prepare routine correspondence.
-
Prepare copies of correspondence, reports, or other printed materials.

May assist with tracking project timelines.

Special projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements/Special Skills:
-
Ability to display confidence in interfacing with department members and EMP|SFM team members, as well as act as an ambassador of EMP|SFM.
